These newly redesigned plastic vats are great compared to the cheap design that came before it. The guy complaining he didn’t get an extra vat cover for his aluminum vat simply needs to print a dust cover. 3rd world lazyness at its best. I also have never had the experience of my tank leaking but then again I’m smart enough to check all the screws on the fep sheet before pouring in my resin.

You get two additional resin tanks made of plastic rather than metal. They work just as well as the included metal one, but weigh less, and the covers make it super convenient to swap colors without having to empty the tank each time.My first print had adhesion issues – stuck to the film rather than the build plate, but this only happened once. I did not treat the release film with silicone as some have suggested – I may try this next time; however I believe this may have been more a problem with the cheap resin I was using than the tank.(The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars for quality and adhesion are that my printer has poor quality in the z axis and I still don’t know why, so I cannot say. Adhesion was again because I have been having adhesion issues, but it may be due to the resin. As for value – I heard this kit used to come with 3 tanks…)Anyway, if you have an Elegoo Mars I would just plan to get these at some point. You will not regret it.

It could be that this product has changed from what is pictured. The frame on the tanks I received is transparent red, not opaque black. I’ve spent days trying to get this tank to work in my Anycubic Photon. It seems as though the FEP is lower than the original tank, and constantly sticks to the glass of my LCD screen. If the FEP sticks to the glass, it doesn’t flex to allow the first layers to stick to the build plate = auto failure. I read that someone remedied this by placing tape around their glass to raise the tank. After many days, and dozens (that’s dozens, plural) pieces of tape around my LCD to get the FEP to rise enough to not stick to the glass, I got it to do a test print. The print came back illegible, so another test print. Not even the numbers for the columns, any of them, were showing up in the print. This is the Photon Resin Callibration print from GitHub.I got these tanks to save time replacing a FEP. It has cost me time and money and a great deal of sanity.

Unfortunately, after only about 4 prints I immediately began to notice some issues. It was marked by some of my favorite test files printing with strange artifacts. Keep in mind I had printed these files dozens of times with my original tank and had never encountered issues with them. It was at thus point I decided to check the bottom of the tank by filtering out the tank. To my surprise I found a thin build up of resin on the bottom of the tank. Sadly, I only wish I was surprised. When I initially put in the vat I had noticed it had a tendency to suction to the bottom. This should have been my first red flag but I dismissed it and continued forward. The strange part is that my original vat never had these suction issues and it seemed like there was nothing I could do to prevent it on this new tank. I can only hope that this is an issue with the Nylon tanks and not the aluminum replacement tanks as well.UPDATE: While looking over my printer it would appear that the suction damaged the LCD on my Elegoo Mars Printer. Still love the printer and company itself but getting a replacement LCD for the original Elegoo Mars is tricky. If you are looking to get these vats make sure they don’t have any suction whatsoever prior to printing.

It’s great to have these extra resin vessels for printing/storing different colors of resin. It took me exactly one round of pouring unused resin through the disposable filters the Elegoo Mars came with, and subsequently trying to fully clean the sole original vessel, before I knew I was never going to do it again….such a mess, too much time, too much waste. This is so much better—I have a different tray for each of the resins I work with, and can safely store them away from dust and light in these trays with their included lids. Very easy to swap in and out as needed, without the need for cleaning and filtering.Sure, $50 bucks for two trays is a little steep—-but the saved annoyance, time, and resin is easily worth it.
